Retro Havoc 2014 was an event that really took a lot of people by surprise, including me. I had no idea what to expect for my third visit to Malaysia but for all intents and purposes, the promise of over 300 of the countries best classic cars, crammed into one giant aircraft hangar on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur made for a tantalising proposition that couldn’t be missed!…

And so I found myself on a Singapore airlines flight over the Pacific for the long haul to KL where I would meet up with Malaysian contributors Gene Chan and Praveent Chelvam for what would turn out to be an absolutely jam packed week full of events, meetings and good times for all. Alie Kuoppa and Danny Foo, the main men at aftermarket wheel manufacturer, Atara Racing, had been doing some serious leg work in the lead up to the first annual Retro Havoc – an event that promised a lot and delivered in style.
7Tune was brought in as official media partners to help give the event increased international exposure and over the next few posts you are going to see all the fantastic details that made Retro Havoc 2014 a real success.
But the real surprise drawcard for entrants and visitors to Retro Havoc this year were the guest appearances of both Shoji Inoue of Star Road and Toshi Ichiraku of RWB, who were brought along to act as judges for the best cars at the event.
It was a tough but enjoyable day for everyone at Retro Havoc 2014; an event that had a little of everything under one giant location.
There were loads of classic Japanese metal…
A very nice selection of European rides…
And of course some classic American muscle!
There was something for everyone at Retro Havoc 2014 and we will be back with a load more content to go with the stories and the final awards winners for what was truly a landmark event on the Malaysian calendar!
