That Subie hybrid tourer is fantastic looking!
Also, just an aside, I remember that Subie being a supposed reincarnate of the SVX/Alcyone. Confirmation anyone?
We’ve got a story related to that coming up Ken, stay tuned.
Fantastic! Oh 7tune…you’re too good to me.
Ooo That is nice. loving the Tourer!
FT-86 looks quite small in that shot which can only be a good thing for weight.
It’s actually only 20 mm short of the original AE86 with a 52 f / 48 r weight distribution which may give some indication as to some of the lengths they’ve gone to to preserve the essence of the original.
Any word on the total weight Adam?
*pounds on the desk* Engine bay! Engine bay! Engine bay! xD
…Refering to the FT of course.
I believe the engineer I spoke to said the car weighed 1300kg. They wouldn’t let us shoot under the bonnet unfortunately. They did start the car up and give it a rev but it didn’t sound like a boxer at all. I own an STi and know the sound well so I’m not sure what’s going on there. Also, despite my insistence, there was no confirmation on turbocharging. At the moment it’s going to remain N/A apparently.
Boxers make a very noticeable sound even to untrained ears. If you think it wasn’t a boxer I still have my fingers crossed.
A boxer would be sweet and awesome but an I4 (head by Yamaha please) would be better. That is really the only complaint by Toyota fans.
