Ever wanted to put JDM parts on your Japanese car to make it stand out from the local models in your country? Well Japanese car enthusiasts like to do that too with export market parts, only sometimes they go all the way and import the foreign model to Japan complete with LHD.
Here’s something you don’t see everyday in Japan. This particular Honda is a LHD Acura TL from the States. The Japanese have had a thing for importing LHD versions of their own cars for quite a while and usually means bringing in USDM versions of not just used cars but brand new ones too. The Acura TL has been around for a few generations now and this particular model, the fourth generation UA8-UA9, was made in Marysville Ohio, before curiously making its way to Japan and retaining its LHD configuration. It’s the top spec 4WD version too, sporting the 307hp 3.7 liter V6 VTEC engine that has enough power to propel the 1700 kg car to 100km/h in under 6.5 seconds.
It is most definitely not the prettiest car to look at but this is actually very popular, taking out awards as one of America’s best selling luxury cars. It’s got plenty in the comfort department as well, packing a 10 speaker, DTS 5.1 channel, surround sound 440 watt audio system complete with USB and iPod connectivity. Phew. Rounding out the interior are Milano leather wrapped seats, keyless start system and joystick based navigation system. Externally the optional visual pack has been added along with chromed aftermarket 18 inch rims. Very different. Definitely noticeable.

I like the previous generation better, but the luxury options on this generation are fantastic. Just one thing about these body lines that doesn’t seem right…
“Autobots! Roll Out!”
Exactly!
arent those ac shintzer wheels?
I like it, you barely can see an Acura in Europe, and the TL dose not have a corespondent in the Honda lineup like the TL and TSX. The design sure makes you noticed just about everywhere.
We all want what we can’t have ;P
Those wheels are AC Schnitzer reps. Very strange to see bolted onto a Honda.
