Scoop – Toyota LF-A moving in on FIA GT1

7tune recently reported on the future of Toyota’s motor sporting movements and now it has come to light that Toyota has decided to forsake a return to either WRC or F1 and instead pitch the new LF-A into the FIA GT1 championship; head to head against its natural but decisively more inexpensive rival, the Nissan GT-R.

What is expected to come of this is unknown at this stage except for the notion that Toyota are going to extract the LF-A from the Nurburgring endurance races and then further develop it to take on the Germans, Italians, Americans and indeed themselves in the FIA championship with immediate effect. To that effect they intend on introducing a 560 horsepower V-10-powered Lexus LF-A for the events.

This will mean a harder, sharper and more hardcore LF-A and if the GT-R is anything to go by, this new Toyota super car stands to be competitive right from the word go.

7tune will break cover should news come to hand of any confirmation of the alleged developments.

So does that mean the LFA is no longer a limited production run engineering exercise?

Also, does that mean Toyota’s finally stopped flogging their dead JZA80 Supra, and shoe horning 2JZGTE/3SGTE rwd drive trains into their econobox bodies?

I roll my eyes at their rally corolla which was really the 6th gen alltrac celica with a corolla body slapped on top of the drive train, and the drift scion tc which shared nothing in common other than the name with the tc the yanks can buy.

Hope one day Toyota would be able to compete against more fierce sporting competitors, like Bugatti Veyron, which is the fastest car in the world in terms of top speed and does 0-60 mph in just over 2.60 seconds.

One noticeable thing in above picture(s) is the Lexus emblem used by Toyota, but Nissan is not using Infinity emblem.
