If you don’t like 86′s and BRZ’s, the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon is definitely not the place for you. Not only is this the biggest salon in years, but it is absolutely LOADED with Toyotas and Subarus. I must have counted one 86 or BRZ for every five or six other cars. Asia Auto Salon 2011 promised to be a fun-filled event, the second one of it’s kind, parts and cars everywhere. While there was much to take in it couldn’t beat the granddaddy of them all, Tokyo Auto Salon. Perhaps it’s a sign of the times, the recent earthquake and global financial crisis has disrupted many a business. While the 2010 edition has been low key, with many of the big players licking their market crash-inflicted wounds away from the Makuhari cavernous halls, the 2011 TAS should show a return to form. It has been an exhausting event for retailers, producers, consumers and everyone else in between. Rightly so too because this year marked a distinct turnaround in the vibe, attitude and more than likely, income of the biggest motorshow on the Japanese calendar. This change in energy provided a bumper crowd, non stop action and a feel good ether born of the positive thoughts for the future of things to come.
