As always there was plenty of diversion available if you tried hard enough. The girls were very welcoming and didn’t mind the intrusions at all. I would hazard a guess that at least a third of the men who attend these things are there only for the girls and wouldn’t be able to tell you the difference between a Porsche and Nissan. I was amazed actually – some were shooting 200 or 300mm lenses from a few feet away!!
Me? I like to get up close and personal with the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8, stopped all the way down to get that dreamy bokeh effect. No only does this lens force you to get in close, it is one of the best lenses Nikon produce and it’s an absolute bargain at around $250. No one with a Nikon DSLR should go anywhere without this lens in their pocket.
I suppose sailors are appropriate considering how wet it was…
